Tour de France Wine Tasting / Dégustation de vin

Tuesday June 6th :: 6pm til…

“French wine” is so well-known that sometimes it feels there’s nothing new to say about it… After doing really fun events over the years at Beyond the Grape highlighting the excellent wines of Argentina, South Africa, Washington, Slovenia/Croatia, Cyprus, and other wine regions, we’re bringing it home to the country that a couple people over the years have determined to be Wine Central, and of course not without good reason…

“Give me books, French wine, fruit, fine weather and a little music played out of doors by somebody I do not know.” – John Keats

We’ll be featuring one wine from 8 different wine regions!

Most people have heard of Alsace, Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Loire, Rhône, Languedoc, Provence, Champagne, etc … and of course, the French have an obsession with geography that led to the development of a detailed system of regulation … the famous French Wine Laws including  Appellation d’origine contrôlée (not to be confused with Appalachia) and constant talk about terroir …

There are now more than 450 appellations in France and if anyone coming to the event can recite them in geographical order, in perfect French (North to South, West to East) we’ll give you a free bottle of the most expensive French wine we have in stock.

But seriously, we’ll have 8 stellar wines from distinct French wine regions to taste, good food, good people, and support a very worthy cause!

We’ll have wines from the well-known regions, and also some outliers … will it be Savoie? Corsica? Jura? Sud-Ouest? Stay tuned to find out…

As always at BTG events … arrive when you can, there’s never any pressure to be “on time”… we’ll be here with plenty of wine and food and good company throughout the evening …

A portion of all proceeds will benefit the Council on Aging of West Florida

Limited tickets available $25.
